Meet Dr. Kim Johnston

Dr. Kim Johnston, a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist, has been practicing chiropractic and trigger point therapy for over two decades. She has built a reputation for quality care and dedication to her patients. Dr. Johnston combines her extensive knowledge of chiropractic adjustments, myofascial therapies, and ancillary procedures such as ultrasound and muscle stimulation to achieve the best results for her patients. She is also skilled in several low-force techniques, allowing her to treat patients who may not be good candidates for traditional chiropractic adjustments, such as the elderly. Dr. Johnston believes strongly in the concept of patient education and provides tips and literature on avoiding and preventing future problems as well as managing spinal issues.

• Chiropractic Care: Our mainstay treatment, chiropractic care involves the manipulation of the spine and other joints to restore normal function and alleviate pain. Dr. Johnston uses a variety of techniques, including low-force methods, to provide effective relief for her patients.
• Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy: A hands-on technique used to alleviate pain and restricted range of motion caused by trigger points in the muscle tissue. Dr. Johnston is a certified myofascial trigger point therapist and has extensive experience providing this effective treatment.
• Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS): This therapeutic modality uses a low-level electric current to stimulate muscle contraction, promoting healing and pain relief.
• Ultrasound Therapy: Utilizing high-frequency sound waves, ultrasound therapy increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, and promotes healing in deep tissue structures.

Your First Visit: What to Expect

Your initial visit will last approximately one hour. After collecting written intake information, Dr. Johnston will conduct a thorough consultation and health history to gain a comprehensive understanding of your condition. This consultation also allows us to determine if chiropractic care is a good fit for you. If it is, a comprehensive physical examination will follow, including orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic testing of the injury and related areas. If necessary, scrips will be written for a local radiology lab for films. Please note that you do not require a physician's referral for the x-rays to be covered by your insurance.

Insurance, Fees, and Payment Options

Norwood Chiropractic is a provider for various insurance companies, including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Allways, United, Harvard Pilgrim, Mass Health, Medicare, and Tufts. We kindly request that you verify if your insurance requires a pre-authorization prior to your first visit, as failure to do so may result in your insurance not paying. For cash patients, we offer individual payment options of $45 per visit, or you can purchase a "block" of visits at a reduced overall cost. Please note that the intial examination fee of $75 is not included in the block cost. Trigger Point Therapy sessions are priced at $50 for 30 minutes and $90 for 50 minutes. We proudly accept Mass Health and Medicare.
